James and John came to the Lord with a request. They wanted Jesus to grant to them that they may sit, one on his right hand and the other on his left hand in his kingdom. They had to learn that the way to greatness in the Kingdom is through suffering and humility in service.

He who should have received the praise of all men was despised and rejected. You suffer, but his suffering goes way beyond. He is a sinless, but you are a sinner.

Hebrews 11 gave examples of faith and how this ought to effect the way we live. This letter was originally written to backward-lookingHebrew Christians in the first century. They were told that the Old Testament saints had not received the promise of being made perfect, not without the New Testament believers. The 'us' includes Christians today who are trusting in Jesus. As for the 'Great Cloud Of Witnesses'? Are these the Old Testament saints? No, I would say they are far too busy worshipping Jesus for this. The witness here is the testimony of the men and women of faith; what they achieved for God's glory.

How can you be approved of God? How may you gain a good report card? It is only by faith. The reward of faith is tremendous. We look forward to great blessings together with all the Old Testement saints.

What are the qualifications to be an heir of God. To be a son of God means to have come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. God has established the new covenent. Are you really an heir of God, adopted through faith in Jesus Christ, qualified by Christ's merit on your behalf. When do you inherit?
