Paul knew that his time was short and that he would soon be promoted to heavenly glory, and he had that absolute assurance that he would be going to be with Jesus, which is far better. By the grace of God who saved and justified Paul through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, he was able to declare that he had completed the race that Jesus had given him to run, that race being his apostolic ministry.
