What Jesus Said About The End of The World

In this talk we consider the parable of the wheat and the tares from Matthew 13:24-30 and our Lord’s explanation in verses 37-43. What did Jesus actually teach about the end of the world? Did He describe multiple future ages and judgments, or one final coming, one final separation, and one eternal destiny? In this passage, the Lord Jesus Christ teaches that: • the harvest is “the end of the world” • the righteous and the wicked remain together throughout this present age • Christ will return in judgment • the wicked will be cast into everlasting punishment • and the righteous will enter the everlasting kingdom of their Father This talk also considers the common teaching of a future earthly thousand-year kingdom and compares it with Christ’s own words in the parable. Most importantly, this is not merely a discussion about prophecy or end-times views.
