It is remembrance Sunday. We are very aware that many who were called to serve their country and lost their lives . We live in a troubled world, a world that needs reconciliation. But, that has to start with reconciliation with God our creator.

What has the Lord given to us? Are we truly thankful? What do we give to the Lord? Do we give willingly and with joy?

There is to be a lowliness of mind about Christians. We are not to be marked by personal pride. If you want to be chief, learn to serve with humility. Christ washing his disciples' feet and ultimately laying down his life on the cross gives us our great example. All of us need to acknowledge that we are sinners before the holy God and we need to cry out to him in humility for forgiveness.

The Elders here, in context, are those in the church with the responsibility of leadership.

Many people today find practising Christians to be rather odd. As a disciple of Christ, you will face opposition. Be encouraged, there is a blessing in these tests of faith. This is not prosperity preaching.
