Christ's future return was not a distant idea to these saints. They had been terribly persecuted for the faith. Surely their hearts cried Lord, come quickly. So Paul reminds them of the certainty of Christ's visible, triumphant return. A King come to judge and to save. Then Paul instructs them how to prepare for his coming.
