David had been greatly blessed by God. He was a shepherd boy plucked from nowhere. He was chosen and anointed to be king, even though in the eyes of many men, he was the least likely, for he was the youngest of many brothers.
This is the same David who became king and was hunted by the previous king Saul. David would spend many days running for his life. He would spend many nights in caves, but he's a million miles away from that now.
He's settled on his throne. He's in Jerusalem, having defeated all the enemies around him. David has had it hard.
So now as he comes to rest, surely this is the time for him to, what I suppose we call today in his me time, David's time, this is for him to have a break, a holiday, a rest. But David doesn't do this.
His mind is elsewhere. David is remembering his dear friend Jonathan, who had died. Essentially, though, more importantly, David is remembering the kindness that God has shown to him.

How foolish is it of them to chase after another gospel? So he wants to bring them back to true salvation, to justification by faith. And again, Paul, time and time again in this letter, rebukes the church for giving their minds and their hearts to another gospel. And he reminds them of what they first heard, of how he had come to them, ministered to them, and how they came to believe. He wants them to realise that the law, the law of God, cannot justify. Man-made law cannot justify. It's only in Christ that a person can be redeemed.
