Mordecai was a good neighbour. A murderous plot was prevented. His reward was a long time coming.

Ahasuerus was a pagan king; very rich and full of pride. Even so, God can be seen to be working out his purpose through him. We know that to be the case in all the events of the world – that the counsel of the Lord shall stand.
