The Teaching ministry at Grace Baptist Church Peel

Elsewhere on this site we have made clear our doctrinal position and where we stand on a number of burning issues. We believe that the church has a scriptural responsibility to teach its members biblical truth, both contemporaneously and controversially if necessary. [ref Acts 20:27]

Here is an insight into some of our teaching ministry (see links Above Left.) Born-again Christians can't help but be challenged and inspired by those beautiful words from Acts 2:42 - "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." We strive to capture this spirit in our meetings as the Grace of Jesus Christ enables us.

Bible version and hymn books

We are conscious that we live in a time when modernising influences are present in many church fellowships. GBCP aims to take a balanced view about what some call progress and others call declenchion.

We will look at each issue on its merits and weigh it up against the yardstick of Scripture. We don't dismiss something simply because it is new but sadly much that is coming into today's worship has to be questioned. Here are the texts used in all of our worship services and mid-week meetings:

  • King James version of the Holy Bible (Authorised Version)
  • Grace Hymns (Evangelical Press old version)
  • Evangelical Praise (not to be confused with "Praise!")
  • Grace Baptist Church Peel's own new hymn book
  • Other loose-leaf reverent hymns and paraphrased psalms
