GBCP was itself established through church planting from Onchan. We now have the pleasure of extending that growth into yet another part of the island. Our fellowship has over the years held special meetings in various places including Laxey on the North East coast of the Isle of Man.
More recently we have been given an open door to bring the good news of the gospel to Kirk Michael.
Now for the unenlightened (or non-Manx!) this is a village about 6 miles North North-East of Peel.
Whilst we have some members and friends who live in Michael, we have never conducted anything quite like this in their backyard.
Michael has a population of 1,640 [2006 census] making it roughly a third of the size of Peel.
And yet for such a relatively small place there has been significant interest in our new meetings.
About 40 came together for the last meeting. The next meeting details will be announced by the deacon in church and all are welcome as usual. After the meeting there will be time for informal fellowship and a cup of tea.
Please note that following the recent death of Rev Else the meetings are currently in recess but will hopefully re re-started soon.
The special services are conducted at the care home in Cannan Court. We are grateful to the warden for assistance in organising the events and arranging the use of the communal rooms. Cannan Court is found by heading North from the village centre on the main road to Ballaugh and turning right just before the equestrian shop. There is plenty of parking to the right of the Home. Once through the front door just walk straight on.
The meetings consist of bible readings, prayer, hymn singing and of course the preaching of the gospel. These meetings have now settles into a monthly routine. Recent topics have included:
